Foam for Care is driven by its continuous search for new products, technologies and applications. R&D is the driving force behind our programme.
At the International Development Centre (IDC), based in Wetteren (Belgium) work is carried out on a wide range of ongoing research projects designed to improve the quality of existing products and to promote technological innovation and the development of new applications. A dedicated team of scientists supports the Foam for Care product and application development:
- Polyurethane components are evaluated according to standard foam tests (density, compression set, elongation, tear resistance, fatigue,...).
- Other subjects, important for healthcare applications, are intensively investigated:
- Emission and extraction of leachables
- Breathability and water impermeability
- Bacteria resistance
- Pressure distribution
Apart from this, any new development has to be environmentally friendly. This results in enhanced products and in energy and material saving manufacturing and converting technologies.
